A God Who Remembers
Updated: Oct 2, 2020
“And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged (subsided); The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;” Genesis 8:1-2
You may have experienced situations in life that seemed hopeless and dire. Trials that seemed to last longer than you imagined and trials that were harder than what you thought you could bear. Life does not always go as planned and there are times when it seems we are alone and hopeless.
I am not sure what Noah thought as the rain came down for a hundred and fifty days straight. Here in Arizona, I am not sure I have seen it rain 150 days in my entire lifetime. The rain came and Noah saw all that was living on the earth destroyed because of the wickedness of mankind. He may have looked out the world and wondered what was next for him and his family. The world would have to be started anew and nothing would be like it once was. Imagine looking out and seeing only water in all directions with no dry land in sight.
I love these verses because they state, “And God remembered Noah, and every living thing.” Life is precious to our Creator, and He did not forget His servant Noah or his family. God preserved life by saving Noah and his family alive, and due to God’s goodness, he spared these eight people out of all the wicked people who occupied the land. Do you ever feel like God has forgotten about you? Do you see the rains come and the water start to rise and become concerned if God will deliver you? I think of the verse found in Hebrews 13:5b which states, “For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” God remembers His people and does not forget His promises that He has made. II Peter 3:9 states, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
Where are you today friend? Do you feel God has forgotten you? Are you resting in His security? Do you exchange the promises of God for the lies of the Devil? Do you realize He is ever near you like the Good Shepherd who leads His sheep? Do you realize how precious you are to Him? I am not sure what trials you may be going through, but I know He will never leave you nor forsake you. Proverbs 18:24b states, “and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” What a friend we have in Jesus, and what a friend we have who will always remember His children!
Stay in the fight!
