All Knowing God
“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” Romans 11: 33-36
I can’t recall at what age it all started for me, but I think my age ended in a teen suffix. I suddenly became smart, and there was not much I didn’t know. Before that time I thought my parents could conquer the world. Now, it appeared they had lost step and not kept up with my own advancing intelligence and knowledge. What I may have lacked in experience, I felt I more than made up in other areas. When I let them know I had “arrived”, my parents challenged my newfound standing in life and sharply put me in my place! My wicked heart had deceived me, and I responded in arrogance and an abundance of misplaced self-confidence.
I am not sure what filled my heart and mind with these thoughts, but I know the root of it was sin. I had an attitude. I despised authority. I thought I knew everything. I failed to realized that I knew nothing. I was blinded by the fact that my newfound intelligence was a mere illusion. I was self-sufficient and failed to acknowledge my God.
However, life has a way of humbling the hardest of hearts. During hardships I have come to realize that I know very little. I would like to blame my attitude of self-dependence on a “passing teenage phase”, but in truth, I have carried this outlook into parts of my adult life. God has had to show me that He is superior and all-knowing.
Where are you today friend? Do you think you know all? How do you react to correction? How do you take feedback? Are you quick to defend yourself or do you seek the truth in what is being told to you? Do you realize that God knows all things? Do you live like He knows all things? Do you realize that He controls all things? Do you realize that all things consist because of Him? God is the only One who knows everything and answers to no one. Do you read your Bible to search His rich depths of wisdom and knowledge or is your Bible merely a decoration?
May we give God the glory He deserves and may our lives reflect that He is the all-knowing, all-sufficient King of Kings.
Stay in the fight!
