Condition of Man
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."
I came to know the Lord at a young age, so I do not remember much about my life before Christ. As I read scripture, I am aware of my condition without Christ, and I know I was condemned to die as the penalty of my sinful condition. John 3:36 states, " He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." Although I was not fully aware of my condition at the time, it did not absolve me of the judgement that hung over my head before I became a born again believer in Jesus Christ.
I have had the privilege of traveling to many places across the United States, and I have visited two other countries. I have seen the beauty of the Hawaiian islands, and I have hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. I have seen the beautiful sunsets Arizona has to offer, and I have seen the majesty of the Smoky Mountains. I have been to Sedona in the nighttime with no city lights, and I have seen the beauty of the stars as they twinkle and shine brightly in the night sky. The stars are not easily seen in the city, but when you get away from the manmade lights, you get to see the beauty of God's lights. The stars of the night need no electricity as they were hung and are maintained by the One who requires no power outside of Himself. I have seen the beauty of God's creation in many shapes and forms, and it is hard to imagine a world that is without form and that is void of any beauty.
There are many who try to explain away God's creation by means of their own understanding and experience, but it is impossible to deny the signature God has put on His creation. Nature itself proclaims the Creator and there is not much faith needed to see that there is a God who designed and created all things. Although it may be hard to imagine a world devoid of any form, we once were all there prior to us coming to the Savior.
Do you realize your life before the Savior was void and not filled with any purpose? Do you realize there was a hole in your heart and life that could not be filled with anything the world to offer? Our life before Christ was dark and void, and there was no light in us. The moment you receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, you come to realize the purpose for your life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 states, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature (creation): old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." Our lives become new and we are no longer filled with darkness, and He fills the void that only He can fill. We have a new road to walk, and our lives become new in Him.
Have you become new in Him? Have you accepted your Creator as your personal Lord and Savior? Have you allowed Him to fill the void only He can fill? Are you living with purpose or are you living just to get by? Are you allowing God to change you into the new creature you are or are you still holding onto the old man? May we be grateful to God for giving our lives purpose, and may we desire to honor and glorify Him for the good work He desires to do through us.
Stay in the fight!
