Do You Pray?

I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.” - I Timothy 2:8

I remember Tuesdays being difficult in the retail world as this was our biggest shipment. The sales of the weekend were being replenished on the Tuesday truck. In the first several years, every Tuesday would be a day of dread and a time when I spent most of my day at work. I remember one time kneeling on the dock plate and asking God to help me face the day. The shipment was large, and I knew the day would challenge me yet again. I began to realize that prayer is a tool I had not been fully utilizing and that my need for God’s help far extended beyond the church pew.

We all know about prayer but we often relegate it to our homes or our church. We don’t realize there are times we need to stop at work, in the car, or at the DMV to pray to almighty God. We forget to say thank you for his safety, and we take for granted all that He does for us. We forget that we can pray anywhere and at anytime. We forget that prayer is us talking to our Father and enjoying with Him what He enjoyed with His Son. It is a relationship like no other and a conversation that we can have with no one else. Our prayers are to be done in love and not in anger toward another or even in anger toward our God.

Do you pray friend? Do you pray just to express your needs or do you pray because you desire a relationship with Him? We are told to come boldly to Him and to give Him the burdens we carry. We are also told to give thanks, for all good and perfect gifts come from above. Be full of care for nothing and don’t look around before you pray but look to the One you are praying to. May we be found praying everywhere, and may we often go to our Father who desires to hear from His children.
