God Is Good, All The Time!

Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.Psalm 100:3-5

As we enter the Thanksgiving Day week I have a lot for which to be thankful for. I saw one person on my work team chat refer to this week as turkey week, and I replied that we have a lot to be thankful for. She righted her ship and agreed there is a lot to be thankful for even though we often fail to see all the goodness of God. We get lost in the shopping lists, guests lists and the family we have traveling into town. Our family will be able to all be together for the first time ever, and it will be nice to have everyone here for Thanksgiving. Although it will be nice to have everyone home, it is not the source for which I am thankful.

I reflect on this week of Thanksgiving, and I think back to 2015 which would be my last Grey Thursday/ Black Friday. I would start the week off with working the Sunday before Thanksgiving in anticipation of the biggest retail week of the year. The day of Thanksgiving is the Super Bowl of the retail world, and there is a lot that must be done, and it is the official start of the holiday season. I use to dread this week as I knew it was only the beginning of some long days and stressful times as we would tried to sell everything and anything.

In the shopping season, we often saw the worst in people as people jockeyed for position to get the best price in items that they could not seem to live without. There were flights, arguments and a me first mentality on a day where one was suppose to celebrate with a day of Thanksgiving. The turkey had not yet settled and the thoughts of Thanksgiving seemed to be lost on many as they scrambled to find the perfect deal. I am grateful that I will not have to work this Thursday, and I am grateful that I will be able to eat Thanksgiving with my family. I doubt I will look for any special deals or even browse through the ads as I will hope to spend this time just being thankful for the endless blessing that I receive every second of my life.

There is not enough time in a given day to give thanks for all that God has done in my life. I am convicted that I do not praise Him as I should, and I spend far too much complaining than I do praising. I have been blessed with so much and my heart is full of all that God has done in my life. I am loved unconditionally by my God, and I have been blessed with a wonderful family and wonderful friends. I have free access to God’s Word, and I have direct prayer access to my Heavenly Father. I have a Friend that sticks closer than a bother, and I have an eternal home where I will be with Him forever. I thank God for what He teaches me in times of struggle, and how He draws me close in times where I am beat down and compressed. I may not be thankful for all things as I should, but I am convinced that my God is so good.

Where are you today friend? Are you grateful to God for all the things He has done for you? Do you praise Him all the day long or does your face resemble that of a horse? Do you find yourself complaining more than you do praising Him? When was the last time you have pondered all that God has done in your life? We should always have praise on our lips, and others should know that our God is so good. May we start the day with praise, and may we end it with praise. God is so good and may others join me in saying, all the time!
