He Is Worthy
“And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.” Revelation 7:11-12
If you have ever lived in Phoenix, then you are quite aware of the dog days of summer and fully understand why it is called the Valley of The Sun. I've gotten used to the heat for the most part, and I don’t mind working in it and getting my daily dose of vitamin D. It seems wherever you go or whomever you speak to, the topic of conversation turns to how hot it is. It is not simply an observation, but more along the lines of a formal complaint.
I have been guilty of complaining about the weather and pulling at my collar as sweat drips from my brow. The weather seems to be the easiest thing to complain about, but I have found all kinds of things in life for which to be ungrateful. I have complained about going to church, helping others, and even loving those whom I don’t want to love. I know I am not a ray of sunshine as my lips murmur complaints rather than praise. I am not meaning to directly complain to or about God, but that is exactly what I am doing.
It does not take long for me to forget the position of my God and the fact that I should be praising Him instead of complaining about Him. I fail to see Him as Almighty God and I forget that I will forever praise Him in Heaven. I am inconvenienced by the heat of the sun and the sweat on my brow, and I forgot that the sun is there for my benefit. I forget that He hates my complaining as stated in Philippians 2:14, “Do all things without murmuring (complaining) and disputing:” I forget all He has done for me, and I forget that He is worthy of my praise and worship. He is not simply the "man upstairs", but He is Almighty God. He is all-knowing, present everywhere at the same time, and all things consist because of Him. He is not to be taken lightly, and He is not one who looks kindly on our lack of praise, worship, and adoration. Revelation tells us what will take place in the end of time as we know it, and it describes all in heaven and earth giving God the praise He so rightly deserves. You hear no mention of complaining, and you hear of no one disputing what they believe is right or fair.
Are you guilty of complaining about anything and everything? Do you look for things to be unhappy about? Do you realize that God hates our complaining and ungrateful hearts? Do you give Him the glory and praise He deserves, or do you complain about the things He has allowed you to go through? Do you realize He is worthy? Do you realize we will spend all eternity giving Him honor and glory for all the great things He has done? God is good all the time no matter what we may think or feel, and we need to practice now for what we will be doing for all eternity. May the praise of God be on our lips at all times.
Stay in the fight!
