Seek Him Now!
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:6-7
There were those who waited for the coming of the Messiah and awaited His birth. There are some who are still waiting for the birth of the Messiah even though He has already come. Others have no interest in pursuing God or caring about the birth of Jesus, and to some it is a story that does not exceed folklore status. I imagine there were some who waited for the birth of Jesus much as we wait for the rapture to come. We look towards the rapture much like they looked towards the birth of the baby Jesus, and we rest on the reality of the birth of the Messiah and the promised coming again of our Lord Jesus.
These verses tell us that the time of our life is ticking away, and every day that goes by brings us closer to our eternal destiny. I know when the end comes for me, I will never wished I would have sinned more. I do not sit and contemplate when the end will come, but I know one day it will as it appointed unto men once to die as Hebrews 9:27 states. In our limited time on earth, it should not be a mystery to us what things we should pursue and what our desires should be. We should seek the Lord while we have time, and we should call upon Him while He is near us. We should pause and evaluate what we are doing with our lives and see if we are living with purpose or just living to simply pass the days.
As we close this season of celebrating and remembering His birth, we must not get lost in the world's meaning of Christmas. We must remember to be grateful for the greatest gift ever given to the world, and a fulfillment of the promise that God had planned before the world began. It is easy to get distracted or discouraged or exhausted by all that comes about this season. He will be found if we will seek Him, and He will pardon us if we return to Him. He is unmovable and unchangeable, and we can always find Him at the same place where we chose to walk away from Him.
Will you seek Him or will you continue on your own journey? Will you evaluate your life and redeem the time as it will soon pass? Will you return unto Him today? Will you seek Him as we get ready to enter a new year? May we seek our Lord everyday of our lives, and may we not forget that He is not only the reason for the season but the reason for all things in life.
Stay in the fight!
