One Per Family Please
“Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.” - Hebrews 5:11KJV
In the Freedom That Lasts Ministry we have verses, a motto, and a change principle we repeat every week. One of the principles we repeat states, ”You do what you do because you are what you are. To change what you do, you must cooperate with God to change what you are.” This change principle always involving hearing and doing. You cannot change anything in your life if you do not intentionally hear God speak to you.
I remember working Black Friday and even working on “Gray Thursday”. We would map out the store and place the hot ticket items in strategic places throughout the store. There would be police officers placed in the front and the back for people who became unruly. We were given instructions to only allow one hot ticket item per guest or per family.
We would wait at our spots and the doors would be opened at the set time. The people would rush in like hungry orcas looking for a seal. We would try to give instructions to the guests, but they could care less about what we were saying. At times, people would get into shouting matches and a physical altercation would ensue. The police would have to escort someone out and sometimes an arrest would be made.
I can assure you that no one woke up the morning of Thanksgiving looking to be arrested or escorted out of a store - a store they waited hours and often days to get into. If everyone would have simply listened to clear instructions and followed them, then there would have been no issues.
We are often the same way when we don’t listen to what God’s says. We sit in church Sunday after Sunday and our ears grow dull to the Word of God. We open our Bibles and read; but yet, our hearts are hard to the truth, and we see no real growth or change. We want to check spirituality off of our list but we don’t listen to what God is telling us. We want change but we don’t want to listen to God’s way of doing it.
Where are you today friend? Are you listening to what God is trying to tell you or have your ears become dull to His message? Do you desire godly change but refuse to do it His way? What will it take to wake you up and excite your heart to the truth? You can’t have true change unless you listen and do what God says. May our hearts and ears be open and tender to the Shepherd’s voice, and may we listen when He calls us. God is always speaking, so what will you do with He tells you today?
