Power In Prayer
“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.” II Thessalonians 3:1-2
I am thankful to live in a country where we face little to no persecution. We may face the mocking or ribbing from friends or co-workers but it pales in comparison to what other believers have faced. The Devil is alive and well and he uses unreasonable and wicked men to still carry out his will.
I was asked to preach at my Dad’s church for Vacation Bible School. I have never preached at a VBS meeting before, but I figured there is a first time for everything. I am not one to want to miss out on a blessing, so I was honored to accept. Each time I started the message, it seemed like there would be a distraction of some kind. I would continue on with the message and the distraction would dissipate until I got to the end of the message. As I started to wrap up the message and give a Gospel ending, Satan would try to come in and distract and dispel the message. It seemed like a child would be crying or there would be a commotion in the front. God still worked that week and eternity will only tell the impact His Word had that week.
I am grateful for those who pray for the messengers of God’s Word, and I am convicted that I need to pray more for my pastor. We need to pray that the Word of God would have free course, and we need to ask that His Word would be glorified. Satan is a powerful force but he is no match for a praying Christian. God’s will is that His Word would go forth unto the uttermost parts of the earth.
Are you one that prays for the Word to have free course throughout the World? Do you pray for those that face oppression from unreasonable and wicked men for the sake of the Gospel? We are privileged with religious liberty but there are many in the world that face persecution and death. May the action of prayer compel us to our knees, and may we see the Gospel go forth throughout the world for His honor and glory. It has been said that every Christian is a walking sermon, so pray for one another that the Word of the Lord would have free course. There is power in prayer and may we change the world on our knees.
Stay in the fight!
